IJN destroyer Shiranuhi

Description

This picture represents on of the Kagero-class destroyers, that passed modernization in late 1943 and received radar equipment and additional AA guns. X-turret was replaced by two additional triple Type 96 25mm AA guns.

I don't know, did Japanese write destroyers' names on their boards in 1943-45 or not. But it seems they didn't. I didn't find definite information about it. Without written name it's almost impossible to tell one destroyer from her sisterships. So the ship on this pic may be Shiranuhi as well as something else. But let it be Shiranuhi. It means 'Phosphorescent Foam'. Pretty name, isn't it?

That bird is the Black-tailed gull. The bird is resident in East Asia, including China, Taiwan, Japan and Korea. Japanese call them Umineko ('Sea cat'), because of their cat-like call. I'll answer in advance, that I never watched Umineko no Naku Koro ni. I've chosen this gull just because it is common bird for the region I drew.
